Sport in the 90's







In the 1990's 6 new A.F.L teams were formed. Sydney,West Coast,Adelaide, Fremantle, Brisbane
and Port Adelaide. Swimmer Kieren Perkins twice won the 1500m freestyle in 1992' and again unexpectedly in 1996'. Four million Aussies watched him in 1996.

In 95' Greg Norman became the worlds best golfer in the world.
Cricket- In 94' the South African test team toured for the first time in 29 years.
Because of the aparthied. In 95' Australia defated the West Indies on home soil for the first time in 15 years.In 99' Australia won the cricket World Cup for the 2nd time. During the 90's Australia had players such as Warne,McGrath,Mark and Steve Waugh,Ponting,Taylor,Healy,Langer,Slater and in 1998 onwards Gilchrist.

Motor Racing-In 96' the Australian Grand Prix moved from Adelaide to Melbourne.
